Ho conosciuto di recente ad un barbeque Davide Rigo, un ingegnere strutturale qui a Melbourne.
Molto gentilmente Davide mi ha inviato la lista di studi di ingegneri che ha compilato e usato per trovare lavoro a Melbourne.
E’ stato facile trovare lavoro a Melbourne? No!
Davide è andato di persona a consegnare una copia cartacea del proprio curriculum presso la reception di oltre 50 di questi studi.
Spesso la risposta era “grazie ma vogliamo qualcuno con esperienza australiana”…
Questo dopo che il governo australiano pubblica liste di professioni richieste che contengono praticamente tutte le discipline di ingegneria possibile.
Dopo la cinquantina di tentativi, Davide è riuscito trovare lavoro in modo, secondo lui, “fortuito” nel senso che uno degli studi presso quale aveva fatto domanda gli disse che non aveva bisogno di lui però diede il suo nome a quello che poi diventò il suo datore di lavoro.
Il motivo di tanta “generosità”?
Il titolare dello studio è stato anche lui un immigrato come Davide e gli ha detto che decenni fa qualcuno diede a lui la stessa opportunità e quindi sa benissimo cosa vuol dire aiutare qualcuno a mettere il “foot in the door”.
Ecco la lista. Non si fanno promesse sulla sua validità a lungo termine in quanto ditte aprono e chiudono tutti i giorni. Inoltre non si fanno promesse sul fatto che queste ditte cerchino ingegneri, cerchino un ingegnere stranieri, cerchino voi.
C’è solo un modo però per capire se ci sono possibilità. Provarci!
